The MMSA invites abstracts for the 2026 Abandoned Mined Lands (AML) Summit. We seek speakers for the Technical Session, highlighting innovative and effective work in abandoned mine land characterization, remediation, and closure
Technical Session: Characterization and Closure of Hard Rock Mine Sites
We invite abstract submissions covering all aspects of AML characterization and closure, with an emphasis on innovative and emerging approaches. Topics may include, but are not limited to:
- Active and passive water treatment systems
- Bioremediation and nature‑based solutions
- Geochemical and hydrogeologic characterization
- Remote sensing and advanced data collection technologies
- Long‑term performance and sustainability of remedies
- Reclamation design, implementation, and adaptive management
- Regulatory considerations and risk‑based decision making
- Building Partnerships: case studies of successful partnerships remediating abandoned mine lands.
Submissions may represent case studies, applied research, lessons learned, or novel technologies relevant to hard rock abandoned mine lands.
Abstract Submission Guidelines
Submitted abstracts should include:
- Presentation title
- Author(s) and presenter
- A description of the proposed presentation (maximum 300 words)
Presentations will be 20 minutes in length, including questions.
